Welcome to the Mid-Michigan
Learning Communities
The Mid-Michigan Innovation Team (MMIT) Learning Communities are a critical piece of the MMIT efforts to reinvent Michigan’s economy.
MMIT, funded through the U.S. Department of Labor’s "Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development" (WIRED) initiative, is a network of people, projects and partners reinventing mid-Michigan’s economy. The MMIT goal is to transform our region by fostering innovation, talent and collaboration. The Prima Civitas Foundation is responsible for facilitiating the overall intent of the WIRED grant.
The Learning Communities are separately funded by a grant from the C. S. Mott Foundation, and are an integral part of the innovative MMIT - WIRED implementation plan. Learning Communities will provide stakeholders across the Mid-Michigan region with a venue for resource and information-sharing, collaboration, innovation acceleration, and project enhancement across a range of targeted industries.

Learning Communities focus on specific industries in Mid-Michigan:
advanced manufacturing
healthcare
entrepreneurship
The Learning Communities are convened by an industry Champion and evolve to meet the needs identified and targeted by participants in each Community. Learning Communities work to align and link existing efforts among agencies and organizations - such as Regional Skills Alliances - supporting partnerships and resource-sharing among a broad range of participants.
Stay ahead of the curve! Join our efforts to link the region’s stakeholders through industry-based action plans addressing crucial regional challenges. Learning Communities foster sustainable practices to expand the limited, three-year lifespan of WIRED-funded project work and other time- and resource-constrained efforts. The Mid-Michigan region is rich with skills, knowledge, and resources that will flourish when shared, enabling participants to fortify their current efforts and associations.
